1950s-hoyer-expo-blonde
1950s Hoyer Expo Blonde

A remarkably clean example from Germany!

We've been fortunate enough to have a handful of these German beauties through the store. Established in 1874 in Schönbach, and originally manufacturing lutes and zithers, Hoyer picked up some momentum with guitar manufacturing in the 1950s and 1960s. This particular model, the 'Expo', appears to have most likely been made in the late 1950s. Made in the traditional archtop hollow body style, this example features a lower bout width coming in just under 17 inches (42.5cm), alongside a body depth of a little over 3 inches (8cm). Appears to be constructed with a spruce top and maple back and sides. Neck appears to be maple with an ebony fretboard with block inlays at the 5th, 7th, and 12th fret. The 7th fret inlay is starting to raise a little on the bass side. Hardware appears to be original to this example. Nice projection and perfect for a couch strummer!

Cosmetic condition is excellent for its age, showing light wear in the form of minor dings, scratches, and checking. Hardware is fully functional, and plays with a low-medium action. Includes a period correct hardcase.
