We are extremely proud to present one of the cleanest vintage custom colour Fender pieces we've ever seen!
Introduced in 1962, the Fender Jaguar complimented the higher end Jazzmaster and expanded Fenders offset offerings at the time. The Jaguar both through its reputation, and initial player base, was a pivotal instrument in the history of surf music. Famously, Carl Wilson of the Beach Boys was an early player of the Jaguar, utilising an Olympic White model with matching headstock (just like this one).
This example is by far one of the cleanest examples of just about any vintage Fender we've personally seen!
Dating to 1963, and featuring a gloriously un-tarnished olympic white finish without the top coat, giving the guitar an extremely bright white appearance. A close inspection reveals the finish to be original, without any signs of touchup. The frets are original and have barely any wear. Pot codes from the original Stackpole potentiometers show the 20th week of 1963. The heel stamp reads June of 1963, and is a B neck. Two patent numbers on headstock, along with original single line Kluson tuners rounds out a completely original instrument.
Plugged in it sounds excellent, with all switches functioning correctly. Put it through a early-60s Fender combo with an old reverb tank, and you're instantly transported back to the golden age of surf. Low output, but plenty of clarity and character in spades.
At some point, the instrument has been setup by Cargill Custom Guitars. It also appears to be missing some components from the string mute. Hardware is fully functional, and plays well with a low-medium action.
A truly world-class collector piece.
Includes the original, brown tolex hard case in great condition, standard with many early 1960s Fenders!
