Another Maxim hitting the consignment wall here at Replay!
For those not in the know, Maxim was founded by Peter McCarthy right here in Melbourne and were known for manufacturing a range of electric instruments and amplifiers from around the '40s until the '70s. Notably, he produced some excellent lap steels of which this example appears to date around sometime in the 1950s. This example retains what appears to be its original hand-wound pickup, as well as the remaining hardware bar what appears to be a non-original output jack. One tuning peg is missing its plastic button. A real fascinating piece of Melbourne instrument manufacturing history!
Cosmetic condition is okay for its age with some checking, dings, and minor paint flaking. Hardware is fully functional, with some minor scratching from the pots. Includes a croc-skin case.
