A players grade gem from pre-CBS Fender!
The Musicmaster and Duo-Sonic were Fenders answer to the newly developing student guitar market of the late 1950s. These featured 22.5" scale lengths and were designed to be affordable and easy to play. This example, dating approximately to 1960, is a Duo-Sonic which has had some changes over the years.
Although these didn't commonly receive handwritten date markings on the heel of the neck, this one features the characteristic slab rosewood board with clay dots. Headstock logo is missing. It appears someone has painted over the original white pickguard with black paint. The original pickups have been rewound by Sliders Pickups. The internal electronics appear to be original, minus a replaced capacitor. The original knobs have been replaced. Pickguard screws and strap pins are non-original. Tuners have also been replaced with appropriate replicas. A refret is present.
A super fun player with plenty of mojo!
Cosmetic condition is okay considering the modifications and that the finish has been stripped. Hardware is fully functional, and plays with a low action. Includes a late '60s Mustang/Bronco case.
