Manufactured in Japan for Fender between 1972 and 1981, the F-65 was one of their dreadnought sized offerings. Featuring an all-laminate ply construction, these were sold and marketed at the time as affordable import guitars within overseas markets. In contrast to the F-35, the F-65 boasted rosewood back and sides alongside more ornaments located in the body binding, and the almost snowflake-like inlays. This example sounds nice and open, with a bold and reinforced sound. Definitely a step up visually and sonically from some of the other models Fender were offering.
Cosmetically, this example has been well-loved with numerous scratches, dings, and marks found throughout. Some prevalent scratching can be found on the lower bout. There is one noticeable gouge in the top, however it appears completely stable. Hardware is fully functional, and plays with a medium action. Includes what appears to be an non-original hard case.
