1979 K. Yairi YC-01 Classical

A super cool nylon string from famed Japanese guitar manufacturer, K. Yairi!

K. Yairi originally was established in 1935 under the name Yairi Musical Instrument Factory, based to this day in Kani, Gifu Prefecture. Yairi Guitars was then formed in 1965 when the second generation president, Kazuo Yairi, travelled to the US to learn guitar building. From then on, the name K. Yairi has been synonymous with a high standard of Japanese luthiery. This particular model is the YC-01 and dates to 1979. This example appears to possess a solid cedar top with mahogany back and sides. Delivers a fairly round and warm sound, definitely leading towards bossa-nova styles, emblematic of many Japanese classical instruments we've encountered. The top in particular has this very interesting design surrounding the edge of the top. A cool example!

Cosmetic condition is good for its age, showing expected play wear and minor dings present throughout. There is some scuffing to the back of the body. There is some light lift to the top at the bridge, but plenty of room at the saddle and the nut. Hardware is fully functional, and plays with a medium action. Includes a hardcase.
