After Mosrite initially went out of business in 1974, Semie Moseley and various small teams of luthiers went on to make smaller batches of US-made Mosrites from 1975 to 1981. As a result, production numbers on these examples were quite low and information scarce. This particular example dates to approximately 1979 and would have been in Carson City, Nevada.
This example is one of their '65 Reissue' models. Cosmetically, this example has definitely been in the presence of a heavy smoker to say the least, showing plenty of patina all throughout. The black finish presents as original, albeit fairly worn in. Pickups are correct, with the only noticeable modification being the pots and a replaced tuner on the A string, with the original pots still in the case. Cosmetic condition, as a result of the smoke leaching into the body and various pieces of hardware, is okay. The treble side, lower bout of the pickguard has broken at the screw, however appears to have been glued down to the body.
Hardware is fully functional, and plays well with a low action. Includes the original hard case from this era. We like to throw around the phrase 'rock dog' a fair bit, but this example absolutely exemplifies that title.
