An outrageously rare and very cool Tonebender from Vox!

Sola Sound, renowned for producing the original Tonebender, also manufactured Tonebender models under the name of other brands such as Marshall and Rotosound, with this example being an early UK-made example from Vox! Pre-dating the Italian-made models, these models were produced from around 1966 to 1967. Featuring OC81D transistors, these examples set the benchmark of holy grail fuzz tone. This particular example has seen modification. The third transistor has been modified to an unlabelled germanium transistor. In addition, a capacitor appears to have been replaced with the battery connector most likely a replacement, as well as the footswitch looking to have been touched up at the solder joints. Both potentiometers appear to be original and correct. As a result of the third mismatched transistor, this example appears to have noticeably less gain, but then again sounds quite nice going into an amp that is already starting to overdrive. A rare opportunity to own a MKII Tonebender!

Cosmetic condition is fair for its age, showing noticeable signs of enclosure wear in addition to a couple of replaced components. Hardware and electronics are functional (volume pot is a bit crackly). No box included.
